Our work

Costas Verdes has been working to bring the forest back to the beach for over 14 years.

Our goal is to create a diverse coastal forest corridor throughout the Pacific coastline of Costa Rica.

Coastal forests in Costa Rica were devastated several decades ago due to human activities and, unlike other types of forests that can regenerate on their own, it takes a significant amount of planning and careful human intervention to help recover them.

We are committed to bring the forest back to our beaches, preserve this ecosystem and its wildlife and provide safe and beautiful public spaces for local communities.

our projects

Since 2009, we have planted over 84,000 trees with the help of 10,562 volunteers and 33 local schools along 27 beaches in the Pacific coast of Costa Rica.

community

We believe that in order to make our reforestation projects sustainable long term, community involvement is essential.

We work with local communities, schools, government institutions, NGOs and businesses through tree planting campaigns, workshops and sponsorship programs to create a sense of stewardship and responsibility.

our nurseries

We grow our trees from seeds and seedlings collected locally.

At our 4 nurseries, we plant the seeds, transfer seedlings to bags, and nurture, water & protect them until ready to be planted at the beach.
